Evan Thorix beats land speed record - Accident during deceleration |
Evan Thorix has beaten the land speed record, reaching the speed of 2876 km/h. Radicalix, the custom designed vehicle built for the task, accelerated to top speed in just under 73 seconds. The deceleration phase was more problematic: possibly damaged by the vibrations, one of the monostable ribs fissured. As a result, the containment cage of the pilot capsule split sending Evan Thorix on a kilometre long tumble across the Favinian desert. The custom designed gel bath enclosure absorbed most of the impact, but Thorix still suffered several fractures as well as internal trauma. Although he has not yet regained consciousness, his conditions are said to be critical but stable.
Meanwhile the wreck of Radicalix is being analysed to ascertain the cause of the accident.
